How to stop retaining water is something many women are forced to ask throughout the year. From our periods that can cause bloating, to excess water retention due to the food we're eating, it seems like retaining water is always an issue. Asian women have natural ways that get rid of excess water, puffiness, and bloating, without harmful pills or other extreme methods. Let's examine a few of their popular tips!

How to Stop Retaining Water - Without Dangerous Diuretics!

First, it's important to emphasize that unless your family physician has specifically placed you on them, you should NOT take so-called "water pills".

Often these water pills, otherwise known as "thiazide diuretics" can lead to a very unsafe drop in potassium levels throughout the body, that if left unattended can develop into large-scale health issues down the road.

They can also cause problems for those with the early stages of kidney and liver disease, diabetes, gout, or pancreatitis.

Try to stay away from these solutions as I want you to follow the Asian way of life so you can live a long, healthy, happy life and get the body of your dreams!

1. Drink more to lose more - I say this all the time to my weight loss clients, but it can never be repeated enough. You MUST drink more water if you're going to retain LESS water.

It sounds like the opposite should be true, but the reality is that by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day you're actually training your brain and body to understand that you have access to an unlimited water supply.

When the body thinks that water isn't plentiful, it begins to store it so you have access to it when in need. Unless you're marooned on a desert island, there is no reason your body should be in this mode, and it usually happens because people drink too much coffee, caffeinated soda, or other things that leech water out of our system faster than the body can replace it through normal drinking.

Be sure to drink your recommended amount of water each day, even when you may be bloated or puffy from your period or other reasons to make sure your body doesn't hold on to it more than usual!

2. Time to eat some bananas - I just mentioned how water-pills tend to deplete your body of potassium, and this has another unintended impact in terms of how to stop retaining water. Potassium actually helps you LOSE water stores, naturally, and by cutting it out accidentally you risk having the body store even more water the next time you drink some.

To guard against this, and to reduce the amount of water you're retaining at the same time, eat a banana or two each day.

Bananas are loaded with potassium, enough to counter the water-storing impact of other things you eat or drink, and are plentiful in other vitamins as well.

If you don't care for the taste of bananas, give some raisins a shot instead, as they also are high in potassium and can do the job!

3.
