Ectopic Pregnancy Following Tubal Reversal

Following the healing process after tubal reversal surgery couples are eager to begin the pregnancy journey. Not that this is a bad thing because many have waited for years to say they have had the surgery and want a child more than anything.

Even before surgery many women research as much information as they can get their hands on. Learning how their cycles work. Getting used to ovulation predictor kits as well as learning the signs their body gives for impending ovulation.

Often diets and exercise is followed very strictly and women understand that they may soon be pregnant so this is very important. A prenatal vitamin is usually added to the diet at this time.

Each month is filled with excitement and when the “two week wait” begins it takes more patience than many expected. On the leading tubal reversal message board the patients actually have a thread going to help the time pass.

Then the day happens and you get a positive pregnancy test. You are excited, thrilled and nervous all at the same time. As a tubal reversal patient you know there is a higher chance of ectopic pregnancy. Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center has a protocol in which is followed strictly so ectopic pregnancy can be ruled out.

When a patient finds out she is pregnant she is to contact her physician tight away. Blood draws are to be performed to make sure the level of HCG is rising at appropriate levels until the baby can be seen in the uterus.

If before the baby can actually be seen with a sonogram and pain is happening it is best to seek medical attention right away.

With ectopic pregnancy if left unattended it will require emergency surgery. If the pregnancy does get to the point and the tubes ruptures there is no way to save it. Women that have gone through the surgery do not in any way want to risk losing a fallopian tube.

After tubal reversal surgery be sure to follow the protocol very closely. If you suspect something is just not right call the doctor. If the office will not listen go to the emergency room. Do not take chances.
Author Resource: Information on ectopic pregnancycan be found on the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center website. CHTRC is dedicated to helping couples dreams come true after tubal ligation by means of tubal ligation reversal.
